Loss of a Legend...

I just received word today that my FX idol, Stan Winston, died at age 62 on June 15, 2008. This Legend brought to life some of the greatest creatures and characters in cinema history, some of which include: Terminator, Predator, the Queen Alien of Aliens, Edward Scissorhands, the Penguin from Batman Returns, the Monsters of The Monster Squad, Pumpkinhead, the Lions of The Ghost and the Darkness, the Apes from Congo, and all of the dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park films, and many others. I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to intern at Stan Winston Studio last summer 2007 and have the pleasure of meeting Stan Winston himself. In my copy of The Winston Effect : The Art & History of Stan Winston Studio, he wrote, "To Anthony, You have a wonderful future to look forward to. You have impressed everyone, including me. ~ Stan Winston." These are words that will be prized forever, and memories that will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Stan. Thank you for the inspiration. Film and FX Updates...

On June 9, 2008, the independent horror film SATANIC PANIC wraps up production with its final day of shooting. The silicone creature suit that I designed back in 2006 and created this year for the film was applied to actor Nikki Taylor Melton and filmed. The original creature designs and finished silicone suit cannot be displayed until the release of the film, but the FX props I created (satanic ritual dagger and sacrificial amimals) can be seen on my website.

On May 22, 2008, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out in theaters. Though uncredited, last summer I worked the Skeletons, Bones, Mummies, Snake, Crystal Skull, & the "Special" Skeletons at the end of the film while interning at Stan Winston Studio. I even helped take a life-cast of the main Russian General's back, from which a fiberglass pulling back-plate was made to protect the actor's back in the "ant" scene.

Valedictorian...

On May 27, 2008, I graduated from the American Academy of Art with highest honors as Valedictorian of the 2008 class with a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in Illustration. Here I am pictured with the guest speaker and Honored Alumnus from 1953-54, the very talented Sandy Dvore.
